Trust & security
What happens to your work, your card, and your data
The short version of our privacy policy, terms, and refund policy — the facts a creator checks before signing up. Every statement here links to the full policy it comes from.
Reflects policies effective 2026-07-31
Where your work lives
- Local-first. Studio drafts live in your browser and original media stays on your disk. When you sign in, editing state syncs so your work follows you across devices.
- Cloud backup is opt-in. Creator Cloud stores original media and project version history in the cloud only if you subscribe; free accounts keep everything local with LAN pairing.
- Only what you publish is public. Publishing to Watch uploads the finished episode, poster, and series info — not your working files.
Payments
- Your card never touches our servers. Top-ups and Creator Cloud are processed by our merchant of record (Polar) on its own systems; we receive only the order reference and amount.
- Credit packs are charged once and never auto-renew. Credits do not expire. Creator Cloud is the only subscription we sell and can be cancelled from your account at any time.
- Unused credits are refundable within 14 days of purchase. If a paid feature failed to deliver, we re-credit your balance.
AI generation and your keys
- Prompts and reference material go to the AI provider that powers the feature you chose, or to our hosted models, only to produce your output.
- Bring your own keys and generation bills at provider cost directly to you — owntent adds no markup. Keys you connect are used only to call the provider you picked.
- Connect your own GPU (ComfyUI) and image and video generation run on your machine. Nothing leaves it unless you publish.
What we collect
- The minimum needed to run accounts, wallets, and memberships: your email, credit balance, and purchase/spend history.
- Product analytics are aggregated usage events, not the content of your work.
- For sign-in and managed remote access we may record device type, OS, browser, and last-seen time. Inactive device records are pruned after 180 days.
Your rights and retention
- You can request an export or deletion of your data at any time by emailing support.
- Account and wallet records are kept while your account exists; purchase records for as long as commercial and tax law requires (typically five years).
- The service is not directed at children under 14.
Content and abuse
- Illegal content is always banned — no CSAM, no non-consensual imagery, no deceptive deepfakes of real people. Adult features are off by default; owntent ships no models.
- A new series stays unpublished until a human reviews it. Confirmed infringement is taken down and earnings on that work are held back from payout.
- Report infringement on the copyright report page.
Who runs owntent
- owntent is operated by its operating company in the Republic of Korea, which acts as data controller. Material policy changes are announced on the site or by email.
